Last night at a ceremony in London we gave Loyle Carner a massive trophy, announcing him as the winner of our 2016 DICE Live Award for the best emerging live act in the UK & Ireland.
The quality of the nominees this year was outstanding. We had the punk R&B of Bonzai, the sprawling indie of Pumarosa, and the pure fire of Nadia Rose. But it was Carner's emotionally and inclusive delivery complimented by his talent for insightful lyrics that connect, which won him the top slot.
Carner now joins the dizzy heights of our winners board, getting his name etched alongside Wolf Alice and Little Simz. 2014's Wolf Alice went on to headline Brixton Academy, while last year's winner Simz is now on tour in the US opening for Lauryn Hill.
The DICE Live Award is voted for by a panel of 100 journalists, broadcasters, promoters, and agents. We'd like to thank all those involved, and the MMF and FAC for supporting the prize as part of the Artist and Manager Awards.
And congratulations to Loyle Carner and his team.
Celebrate by catching one of his impactful live shows in 2017. We're certain those stages will keep getting bigger.
